I'm afraid my dog doesn't get enough exercise. How much is enough?
The amount of exercise your dog needs depends on the breed, size, and age of dog. A larger dog will generally need more activity time than a smaller dog. Some breeds need more exercise than other breeds of the same size. If your dog is overweight, you might be feeding him too much and/or he might not be getting enough exercise. To determine whether your dog is overweight, take the DogAge Test, or see your veterinarian.
At minimum, your dog should be getting some exercise at least three times each day for at least 15 minutes at a time. Don't exercise your dog after feeding time, and if your dog is overweight or out of shape, start your exercise program slowly, and build up on time and intensity. Talk to your veterinarian about a diet and exercise program that is appropriate for your dog.
