Dog Health Conditions – Breathing Problems

If your dog has a distinct wheeze, a veterinarian visit should be scheduled. Some coughing could indicate dog health problems such as a respiratory infection or heart disease. Occasional panting could indicate a nervous or overheated dog. Other respiratory symptoms could represent more serious possibilities for dog health problems such as heartworm.

Caution: An inhaled or swallowed object could cause breathing difficulties such as gasping or intense coughing. See your veterinarian immediately.

Medications to manage dog breathing problems include prednisone and theophylline ER.
